Eighth annual event puts spotlight on women leading the way in their industries

WHITBY, Ont., February 26, 2019 – On March 5, more than 200 guests will take a day out of the office to celebrate women in business at the Whitby Chamber of Commerce’s eighth annual Connect Women event sponsored by MacAskill Chiropractic and Wellness Centre and Nurse Chevrolet Cadillac. This full day conference promises a powerhouse lineup of speakers including HGTV’s Kate Campbell as the keynote.

Campbell has been working in the renovation industry for over ten years and runs her own company, KateBuilds Inc. which specializes in small renovations and custom carpentry. She has been taught by some of Canada’s top renovators and appeared on many HGTV Canada shows such as Holmes On Homes, Disaster Decks and most recently, as one of the hosts on Custom Built.

Also gracing the stage will be Vice President of Corus Tempo, Lynn Chambers; Executive Advisor for the Business Development Bank of Canada and the only female CEO of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, Kelly McDougald; and entrepreneur, mathematician and rock star; Vanessa Vakharia.

To shake up the format, leading Rotarian Valarie Wafer will be interviewed by avid Chamber volunteer and lawyer, Anna Naud from Mason Bennett Johncox. Wafer joined the Rotary Club of Whitby in 2005. Now residing in Collingwood Ontario, her home club is the Rotary Club of Collingwood South Georgian Bay. Wafer continues to serve at an international level in a variety of roles, most recently as a Director on the Board of Rotary International 2020-2022.

Hosted at the Ajax Convention Centre, this inspiring annual event includes a three-course plated lunch, generously sponsored by PGL Environmental Consultants, as well as a full marketplace of local vendors.
