2020 Whitby Chamber of Commerce Business Achievement Award finalists announced

WHITBY, Ont., September 29, 2020 – The Whitby Chamber of Commerce (WCC) has the distinct pleasure of honouring outstanding accomplishments in the community at the spectacular Peter Perry & Business Achievement Awards gala. Hosted on Thursday, November 12, this annual event publicly recognizes local businesses that have demonstrated a passion for excellence, a commitment to their community and a strong entrepreneurial spirit.

The awards gala will look a little different this year with a limit of 50 in-person attendees, but the WCC looks forward to a safe and celebratory evening for all. Tickets to the event will be limited to finalists and special guests, but the community will be invited to join in on the celebrations by watching from either their homes or from one of the local restaurants streaming the event live on Thursday, November 12. In addition to the Business Achievement Awards, the WCC honours Whitby’s outstanding contributors through the prestigious Peter Perry Award. An astute businessman dedicated to his community, town founder Peter Perry embodies the spirit of giving that the award was designed to commemorate.

“We are so honoured as a family, but I have to tell you how much this would have meant to Jim,” said Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, Christine Elliott as she accepted the 2019 award on behalf of her late husband Jim Flaherty. “He has won awards both nationally and internationally, but I know that the one that would have meant the most to him was the Peter Perry Award because it would have been given to him by the people of his own community. Thank you for remembering him.”
