This week, we proudly celebrate Small Business Week — a time to recognize the entrepreneurs, family businesses, innovators, and local employers who are the heartbeat of our community.

Small businesses are more than economic contributors — they are the people who sponsor our youth teams, donate to local causes, hire our neighbours, and shape the character of Whitby. Across Canada, 97.5% of all businesses are small businesses, and they employ over two-thirds of the private sector workforce. Here in Whitby, that story comes to life every day in our downtown shops, professional services, family-run restaurants, home-based start-ups, and fast-growing scale-ups.
