Call for 2026-27 Board of Director Nominations

Dear Members of the Whitby Chamber of Commerce,

On behalf of the Policy & Governance Committee and the Board of Directors, we are pleased to announce that the 2026–2027 Board of Directors Nomination Process is now officially open.

Each year, the Whitby Chamber of Commerce welcomes new leaders to join our Board—individuals who are committed to strengthening Whitby’s business community, advancing meaningful advocacy, and shaping the strategic direction of our organization. Serving on the Board is both a privilege and an opportunity to contribute to the long-term success of our members and our community.

As part of our commitment to strong governance and a well-rounded Board, we will be seeking candidates who bring expertise in key priority areas.

• Finance
• Membership Recruitment / Non-Profit

Key Dates for the 2025–2026 Nomination & Election Process

December 9 – Nominations Open – This letter marks the official opening of the nomination period.

February 2 – Nominations Close – All nomination packages must be submitted by 4:00 p.m.

February 9 – Candidate Briefing – All eligible nominees will be invited to participate in a mandatory briefing session outlining Board expectations, governance responsibilities, and the election process.

February 11 – Voting Opens – Voting begins for all eligible Chamber members.

March 11 – Voting Closes – Ballots must be cast by 4:00 p.m.

March 12–13 – Candidate Notifications – All candidates will be contacted individually to receive their results.

March 17 – Mandatory Shadow Board Meeting – Newly elected directors will attend a transition session with the outgoing Board as part of our structured onboarding process.

How to Apply

1. Complete the nomination form.
2. Submit it with:
   • A biography and headshot.
   • A 100-word statement on why you want to serve.
3. Email your package to karey@whitbychamber.org or deliver it to:
   Whitby Chamber of Commerce
