The Whitby Chamber of Commerce has opened nominations to its Annual Peter Perry & Business Achievement Awards. Community members each year get the chance to nominate a business or person they believe deserves to be recognized for their innovation, outstanding entrepreneurship and the way they give back to their community. In November of each year the Whitby Chamber selects and celebrates winning nominees of both the Peter Perry Award (Whitby’s citizen of the year award) and the 7 categorized Business Achievement Awards.

 Since 1955 the Whitby Chamber of Commerce has been proud to honour Whitby’s Outstanding Citizen of the year by recognizing their commitment to the community through the Annual Peter Perry Award. Peter Perry was a founder of the Town of Whitby.  He was a shrewd businessman, excellent public speaker and a man truly dedicated to his community. He served as an elected representative to the Parliament of Upper Canada, served as Whitby’s Township representative to the Home District Council and was instrumental in the formation of Ontario County with Whitby as the County Town. The Whitby Chamber of Commerce feels that the Peter Perry Award is an excellent way to honour Whitby’s outstanding citizens using Peter Perry as an example of commitment to the community and business. For many years the Whitby Chamber membership has recognized its peers, it’s community leaders and economic movers that help shape our community. Local business provides local jobs, encourages local spending and supports local community initiatives.

There are 7 awards given to recognize business achievement in 7 different areas.
