Mission
The mission of the Whitby Chamber of Commerce is to consistently provide our broadly represented members and their employees with excellent networking, advocacy, education, value added programs, and leadership opportunities.
The Whitby Chamber of Commerce is an organization committed to the growth of business and the enhancement of the social, cultural and educational standards that contribute to the economic prosperity and quality of life of Whitby and Area.
We are committed to providing the leadership and representation that enables the Whitby Chamber of Commerce to be the voice of business in our community.
Advocacy
The Whitby Chamber of Commerce promotes the contributions and importance of the business sector to our economy. We make the views of business known to government at all levels, the media and public. A vital part of our mandate is to encourage plans and policies that will enhance the positive growth of business in our community.
Networking Opportunities
MonthlyBreakfast Networking Program: 7:15 - 9:00 a.m. Promote and profile your business in a high energy atmosphere. Each individual is given the opportunity to give a 30 second ‘infomercial’ on their business. We have found that the best spokesperson for your business is you!
MonthlyAfter Hours Networking Program: 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. These meetings are held at local Chamber business establishments where you can showcase your business through individual table sponsorships.
Monday Night Golf League
Join other Chamber members on Monday nights for networking and 9 holes of golf! Prizes for closest to the pin and a cash draw at every game. End of the season showcases a wrap up dinner with thank you gifts. Since its inception, the Golf league has raised funds each year which contributes to the Membership Scholarship award.
Advertising Opportunities
Direct Monthly Advertising:
- “Business Connects” Monthly Publication: This complimentary newsletter is a tremendous way to stay current on Chamber activities and those of the membership. Reach 2000 businesses through ads or written articles. Special discounts if you book for 6 months or a full year
- Inserts/Flyers; for a small fee you can insert a flyer in our monthly membership mailing; discounts available
- Web-site Static or Flash Ad – discounted rates paired with Business Connects advertising
Annual Advertising:
- participate in the Membership and Business Directory – it is one of the best tools to help you conduct business
Event Advertising:
- various advertising and sponsorship opportunities for several events & activities throughout the year
Membership and Business Directory
Published once a year – this high quality guide is distributed to all members. Each member receives 2 complimentary listings and has the opportunity to purchase an individual advertisement to showcase their business. The Membership and Business Directory is distributed to each member free of charge. In addition, the directory is distributed to outside agencies and organizations wishing to do business in our community, other Chambers of Commerce and Boards of Trade throughout
Ontario as well as information centres and economic development resources across Durham Region.
Web Site
The Whitby Chamber of Commerce website is an excellent resource for our members and the community. Each member has a listing on the website with a link to their business website. Information on upcoming events, media releases, online registration forms, links to business resources, flash advertising spots, feedback to your suggestions and questions are all available online.
Annual Events & Activities
Annual General Meeting, Annual Mayor’s Luncheon, Golf Tournament, Peter Perry Business Achievement Awards Gala and Small Business Week activities. We have opportunities for you to showcase your business at our major events. In addition there is the opportunity to promote your business and be a host location for our networking programs.
Committees
We have 5 committees that drive the initiatives in our strategic plan and work to support the mandate of the Chamber. Join a committee of your interest and expertise to help forward the local business community.

Chamber Group Insurance Plan Medical/Dental/Disability
As a member of the Chamber you can participate in a comprehensive employee benefit program. Administered by Hardiman, Mount & Associates, this program is of particular benefit to firms of 1 – 50 employees.
Board Room and Meeting Space
This is perfect for small and home based businesses that need a place to conduct business from time to time in a professional atmosphere. We have a complimentary meeting room for members as well as a large boardroom and a tradeshow display unit available for rental.
Certification of Export Documents
This is a free service to Whitby Chamber of Commerce Members.
Chamber Member Scholarship Award Program
Each year the Chamber awards three 1,000 scholarships to children of Chamber Members or the children of employees of Chamber Members. This is a benefit that you as an employer can offer to your employees. The Scholarships are presented in the fall at the Annual Peter Perry Business Achievement Awards Gala.
Relocation & Referral Services
The Chamber office acts as a referral agency for out of town inquiries as well as inquiries from the general public. When someone calls looking for a specific service – we provide information and contact numbers of our Chamber members. The Chamber provides general information packages to people who are relocating to the area.
