UOIT is pleased to announce that this year’s speaker in the Purdue Pharma Distinguished Lecture series is Dr. Muthiah Manoharan, Senior Vice-President of Drug Discovery at Alnylam Pharmaceuticals.
Dr. Muthiah Manoharan joined Alnylam Pharmaceuticals in 2002, following a very successful 12-year tenure as Executive Director of Medicinal Chemistry at Isis Pharmaceuticals, a leading biotechnology company focused on nucleic acid-based therapeutics. Dr. Manoharan is an author on over 130 publications and over 200 abstracts, as well as the inventor on over 115 issued U.S. patents. His work at Alnylam Pharmaceuticals utilizes novel approaches to silence the expression of genes, a powerful new approach to therapy that may treat a diverse range of human diseases including cancer, infectious disease, and autoimmune disease, amongst others.
