Durham's largest ski club and snowboard facility, the Oshawa Ski Club will now operate simply as Brimacombe. After 73 years of operation, this is a nothworthy change in our community and we sould be honoured if you would join us Sunday November 8 for our official launch party and annual open house at Brimacombe.

The Regional Municipality of Durham, Economic Development and Tourism Department is hosting The Art of Transition symposium on Nov. 12, 2009. A forum for creative minds, The Art of Transition will explore the uniqueness of Durham Region's communities and brainstorm strategies to evolve our local economy. Through networking, dialogues and engagement, the symposium will inspire new ideas, partnerships and opportunities for transitioning Durham Region into a new, creative economy. The symposium will bring together creative thinkers from diverse backgrounds: artists, business owners, entrepreneurs, inventors, agriculturalists, politicians and some of today's finest thinkers. The keynote speaker is Dr. Richard Florida, director of the Martin Prosperity Institute at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management, author of Who's Your City? and founder of Creative Class Group. As Dr. Florida points out, attracting and retaining members of the "creative class" through the development of talent clusters can create significant economic advantages. With this in mind, The Art of Transition will explore Durham Region's ability to retain and attract creative and talented people.
